I picked up the acoustic guitar and took lessons for a brief stint in the 3rd grade. I was influenced heavily by Buck Owens, Roy Clark and Glenn Campbell! Imagine that. The string gauge was too heavy for me at the time, so i quit because it hurt too bad! I later regretted my decision to quit, and my mom told me that she wasn't going to pay for any more lessons. I figured I'd play the bass because it had fewer strings and the strings were bigger so must not hurt to bad, RIGHT! My dad got my first bass (a Sears off-brand) when I was in the 5th grade. I was influenced by Bootsy Collins, Mark Adams of Slave, Louis Johnson of the Brothers Johnson, Aaron Mills of Cameo, Jaco Pastorious Jazz fusion great, Stanley Clarke Jazz fusion great and others.
My favorite aspect of touring would have to be visiting and experiencing different cities, countries and connecting with people from all over the world. My least favorite aspect is not being able to help out my beautiful wife and family when I can tell they need me at home.
Today in catering when I shared my crazy dream from last night with Ryan, Ben, Aaron, Phatty, Soul Glow Activator and Crouton!
I would have pursued architecture or some type of graphic art or commercial art.
I am married to a woman who is not only beautiful, but definitely down for me, and for that I am grateful beyond words. We have 3 awesome kids and a shitzu.
I hail from Funkville USA! Topeka, KS.
I wish I were better at playing bass and crafting songs so I work on it all the time!
My favorite Toby quote has to be one I hear every night we do a show. It's during the prt of the show where we play "In the Light." He talks about when we stray, God is right there waiting on us and all any of us have to do is just turn around and He'll welcome us back unconditionally.

Keep doing what you're doing! I would always ask musicians that I knew that were playing for world-renowned artists, "Man, what do I have to do to make it, or get a high profile gig like the one you have?" That's what they would tell me! It used to frustrate me to no end, mainly because I didn't really understand what they meant. "Keep doing what you're doing" simply means, if you are pursuing what God has called you to do, and you are watering your actions with faith and His word, I'm paraphrasing, a righteous man's steps are ordered of the Lord ... your preparation, diligence and faith will ultimately lead you to your goal.

For as long as I can remember... My poor mother....
I love seeing all the places that I've been able to see. To be away from friends and family is the roughest part. That's for sure. And I miss my car really bad.....
I was knocked unconscious on the last show of the Momentum tour (if anyone's got video of that PLEASE let me know). That was pretty embarrassing when I came to.
Hopefully I would be acting! I love to act. I've been acting since I can remember also. From kids videos to theatre, please don't dig up those videos. Hopefully I can do that after The Mac. Always loved that.
Right now I'm ENGAGED!!! I can't believe it. Her name's Jennifer and she's the most amazing woman that I've ever met. Other than my mother of course. We're getting married on the 18th of August.
Born in Santa Cruz, CA, then moved to Glendale, outside of LA, then to San Fransisco.... But I've lived in Nashville the longest.... Maybe I gotta start reppin' the Dirty South.
I wish I was better at naturally serving people. I have to think about serving people. It doesn't just happen. I wish I was better at that.
The Bible.... It's the only book I've ever made it all the way through, so I'm goin' at it again. I know it sounds like a youth group answer, but I'm not good at reading books, so I figure if I'm gonna be disciplined with one, it should be that one.
I actually don't have one... R&B as a genre has been an inspiration to me. And conscious Hip/Hop. Music that's about something. Not just clubbin' and havin' a party. But music that's about something.
My wedding!! Hands down. Forming a family with my fiance.
Are you The Grits/Dj Maj/Brian "Da Bomb" Haley and someone even asked if I was Toby Mac once....
"Lose My Soul"
It's probably a tie between "Boomin'" and the end of "I'm For You"
His name's Phil. He lives in Franklin. GREAT guy. Godly man. He's who I would like to fashion my family after.
Hot Chocolate.... I'm a big kid.
Depends on what I'm doing. Brian "Da Bomb" Haley tells great stories. Dave "dDub" Wyatt is the best to watch a comedy movie with cause he laughs so hard, which in turn makes me laugh. Me, Shonlock, and Nirva can sit around a laugh all day together.
